Cuba's digital destination
Background to pictures
My photographs of Cuba were taken on a two-week group escorted tour of Cuba, with my wife, in 2012. Starting and finishing in Havana, we visited Soroa, Vinales, Ciefuegos, Trinidad, Santa Clara, Remedios, and Varadero.
Of course in a journey of such a short time it is difficult to pretend that the images I have captured provide a comprehensive overview of such a diverse country. The restrictions of an organised tour, such as a pre arranged and inflexible itinerary and limited time in each location all add to the challenges of obtaining a comprehensive portfolio of images. Firstly and foremost my images are intended as a personal record of the trip. If others enjoy my images then that in itself is a bonus.
As for our thoughts on Cuba. Wow what an amazing trip! The sights and sounds and above all the people provided us with a holiday to remember. From a photography perspective I found Havana and Trinidad to be a photographers dream. We are already studying the holiday brochures with a view to making a return trip – hopefully to see parts of Cuba that we missed. About Brian Phillips
