El Palenque is a collection of perhaps six open-sided thatched bohíos (traditional Cuban huts) next to the Pabexpo exhibition centre. This is reasonably good value (pizzas for CUC 3-4, roast pork for CUC 4-5 and even lobster and shrimp is readily available. This is somewhere that Cuban families come for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner at the weekends. If you happen to be around the exhibition centre, it is a good place to pop into for lunch. Otherwise, there is no real reason to come here other than for the excellent bread shop. Not that there is anything really wrong with the places, simply that they are a bit boring and more like a Cuban version of a food mall around a parking lot.
