Cuban telephony is improving thanks to an investment from Mexico’s telephone company in ETECSA, the Cuban national telephone company. There are now public telephones that accept prepaid cards which can be purchased at the "Telecorreos" vendors at the hotels in major cities. The Hotel Nacional has telephones and extremely helpful operators in its lobby, and international calls may be placed from the rooms of most major hotels.

Cubacel rents phones or will assign a Cuban number to the phone you brought with you. Cubacel has offices in most major tourist destinations.
Dialing Codes
When calling to another city from within Cuba, dial zero and the city code, followed by the number. When calling from abroad, dial the country code (53) followed by the city code (Havana = 53+7). The codes for major cities are as follows:
