Among the major attractions in the festival’s program will be the first performances of music composed by Juan Formell, founder and director of Los Van Van, with symphonic arrangements by Joaquín Betancourt; performances by Brulé, a group from the Sioux Indian reservation in the US; the concert Brouwer Flamenco, as a tribute to Leo Brouwer who many consider the greatest Cuban musician of all time; a violin concert organized by Manolito Simonet with over 100 violinists; and the concert Locos por la música [Crazy About Music], which will bring together a group of the most popular Cuban musicians in a wide range of genres and styles.

As always, the event will include a theoretical symposium that will be held at the Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo de la Música Cubana (CIDMUC) [Center for Research and Development of Cuban Music] and which will focus on the digital commerce of music in Cuba and the role of the industry in the process of creation, among other topics.

The National Theater will be the main venue of the event as well as Karl Marx Theater, Art Superior Institute, Casa del Alba, Old Havana, Palacio de la Rumba and Salón Benny Moré de la Tropical, among other places. Ecuadorian, Venezuelan and Caribbean representatives are attending the celebration, as well as Colombian and Spaniard musicians, the American Nora Long and folk group Brulé. People will be very delightful with almost hundred of concerts to be performed for those days. It is also scheduled a symphonic program with many Cuban orchestras and the National Symphony Orchestra sharing stage with outstanding figures as Omara Portuondo, Frank Fernandez, Miriam Ramos, Ernan Lopez-Nussa, Dario Martin, all previously awarded in Cubadisco events. 4 symphonic versions will be performed at the opening gala, themes by Juan Formell and arranged by Joaquin Betancourt. Besides half hundred of violinists and important figures of Cuban music headed by Manolito Simonet and a historical encounter of Aragon and Original de Manzanillo orchestras to close the great event at Salon Rosado de la Tropical Benny Moré. Young jazzmen, rappers, rockers, rumberos will be present mixing different genres of music and other arts, participating nominees and awarded artists.

Cubadisco will pay a special tribute to Jose White, Brindis de Salas, Rafael Diaz Albertini, Electo Rosell ( Chepin), Rafael Lay and Enrique Jorrin, all violinists passed away who enriched the history of Cuban music. Masters Evelio Tieles, Alfredo Muñoz, Enrique Alvarez, Celso valdes and Dagoberto Gonzalez will receive the Prizes of Honor. An exhibition of patrimonial violins from the National Music Museum collection is also scheduled and a National Violin competition, participating the most qualified children of the country. As every year the Center for Investigation and Development of Cuban Music which celebrates its 35th anniversary, will be the main venue for the International Symposium for reflection and debates, even workshops on digital commerce and Cuban music industry, participating experts and researchers. Kids will also have their space with a children drawings contest.Other artistic manifestations are present in the event as cinema, with the season Nosotros la música, celebrating the 50 years of the documentary and screening of films dealing with this topic. Albums from EGREM, Bis Music, Colibri, scores, books music, lined paper and instruments could be also acquired in the great Cuban music celebration, all in national currency.
