  • Cuba Absolutely Review: February 2013

El Deluvio was an institution in the Havana paladar scene for many years as the authentic Italian place with great quality pizzas and pastas courtesy of their Italian chef, Wally. He left in 2012 to Carboncita and El Deluvio decided to go in a different direction with an extensive remodelling which was completed in late 2012.

The new Deluvio is stylish and contemporary with strict white lines in the indoor booths. They have maintained something of an outdoor terrace. Some think that this has taken away from their authenticity, possibly although personally I like the remake and it has certainly been well done.

The menu has been updated but still has kept many of the old specials from the good quality pizzas (courtesy of a clay pizza oven) and pastas, Carpaccio de res and Filet Mignon. This is not a cheap place (it never was) but if you want a more upmarket dining option you could do a lot worse.
