On the asymmetrical façade, on one end, is the entrance on the shape of an arch with two columns on each side. The scallops on the cross are decorated with paintings of Cuban artist José Nicolás de la Escalera, and in one of them is the first pictorial work to show a black man. This National Monument was restored by the Ministry of Public Works in 1947. Further restoration works were made in 1963, following the design of architect Fernando López.
