    • The Institute of Secondary Education of Havana was founded in 1863 and originally located on Calle Obispo. It was later moved to this site in 1924 as part of the construction program for the area in the first quarter of the 20th century.  The profusion of pediments, cornices and colonnades; the monumentality of the vestibule; and the scenographic decoration of the assembly hall, which contrasts with the austerity of inner courtyards and classrooms, make the Institute of Secondary Education a typical example of the architecture from the Parisian École des Beaux-Arts.
