  • Tourists often seem somewhat conflicted between finding a place that authentic real Cubans go to and somewhere where there is toiler paper in the bathrooms and the food is reliable. La Chuchería ticks a number of boxes. Top of the list is that it is always lively, always happening. There is motion and sometimes commotion of people coming and people leaving. This is a sports bar / café which is a great place to simply get a beer and a sandwich and watch the world go by on the Malecon (and come in).
The menu largely consists of sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and a few other dishes. Prices are mid range and portions are decent. Don’t expect white glove service but it is actually pretty quick and efficient – they don’t necessarily suffer fools gladly but that is understandable!
