Best for: A reasonable budget option in the heart of Centro Habana. Authentic neighborhood, non-pretentions place.
Worst for: Timeworn and with its best days behind it – the Lincoln is a friendly giant lumbering on.

  • This peeling nine-story giant was the second-tallest building in Habana when it was built in 1926. Overshadowed by taller opposition these days, the hotel still offers 135 air-con rooms with TVs in an atmosphere that is more 1950s than 2000s. Although timeworn, it’s friendly and has a pretty popular disco on the 9th floor, which attracts a cool crowd.

Notoriety hit in 1958 when Castro’s 26th of July Movement kidnapped motor racing world champion Carlos Fangio from the lobby on the eve of the Cuban Grand Prix. A small ‘museum’ on the 8th floor records the event for posterity. Otherwise, the facilities are best described as timeworn.

    Location:

Centro Habana gives a more authentic Cuban experience than other more beautified parts of the city. A short walk to Chinatown. Across the road from one of Havana’s best Art Deco buildings, the Teatro América and very close to the legendary Casa de la Música.
