  • One block east of the plaza, the State-run Museum of Automobiles, previously known as the Depósito del Automóvil, showcases a collection of almost 50 vehicles from 1905 to 1989, includes cars, trucks, special-purpose vehicles, and classic American autos once owned by famous personalities. Alas, the Chevrolet Impala driven by ‘Che’ Guevara in Cuba in the early days of the Revolution now resides in another institution. But comandante Camilo Cienfuegos’ mint-green Oldmobile is there, alongside a 1905 Cadillac—the oldest still-extanct car in Cuba—plus a 1926 Rolls-Royce Phantom and other relics in various states of repair.

Moto enthusiasts can also thrill to an old collection of Harley-Davidsons and other motorcycles, in addition to other items in relation to the development of motor transport in Cuba.
