Churruca esq. a San Pedro, Habana Vieja
  • This tiny and architecturally authentic Greek orthodox church (Cuba’s only one) stands in the Jardín Madre Teresa de Calucuta and was consecrated by Bartholomew I Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Contantinople on January 25, 2004. The cool interior, with its intricate carved woodwork and an impressive chandelier, provides a serene contrast to the traffic-clogged Avenida del Puerto outside.
The roof of the San Nicolás de Mira Temple is covered with red tiles and the façade features a number of Bizantine icons, thus combining Cuban elements with Greek style.
