Best for: Securing a budget place in the heart of Vedado which is bustling and happening.
Worst for: Being close to the wall vibrating Cuban disco on the 14th floor. Inconsistent service.

Located at the foot of La Rampa, a bustling hub of Cuban life, the St John’s is a prominent fixture. In the context of (relatively few) budget hotels in Havana it offers a decent option. Clean, if a little worn this hotel works and is fairly efficient. The 7th floor swimming pool is tiny but after a few drinks could offer the perfect place to cool off.
The café-bar, becomes the Pico Blanco nightclub at 10.30pm which is extremely popular with a mostly Cuban crowd.
On the downside the staff sometimes manage to combines pomposity with inefficiency which is an irritating combination and the best that can be said for the food is that it is mediocre.
Rooms are basic, although those facing west offer great views.
