  • Opened in 1960, and reopened in 1979 after being fully restored, this is one of Havana’s most important cultural venues. It promotes dance, drama, theater for both adults and children, music and visual arts. The Teatro Nacional, with two large concert halls, Avellaneda, with seating for 2,500 people, and Covarrubias, for 800, as well as the renowned Café Cantante, for 240 people, is one of the largest theaters in the city. The building is surrounded by gardens with ponds, winding paths and sculptures by Cuban artists.
